CARE GUIDE: KEEP YOUR HAIR LOOKING FLAWLESS!

At Essence Studio, we know how important it is to keep your wig and hair extensions looking flawless for as long as possible. With the right care, you can make sure your hair stays beautiful and lasts for the long haul. Check out these must-know tips to keep your look on point:

1. DETANGLE LIKE A PRO

Before styling or washing, always detangle your wig or extensions using a wide-tooth comb or your fingers. Start from the ends and work your way up to prevent breakage. For curly hair, stick to finger-combing to keep those curls bouncy and defined.

2. WASH WITH CARE

Treat your extensions like your natural hair! Use a sulfate-free shampoo and conditioner to keep them soft and shiny. Wash your hair in lukewarm water, letting the water flow down the hair to prevent tangling. No scrubbing or twisting – just smooth motions!

Keep your wig fresh by washing it after every 8-10 wears. Use a sulfate-free shampoo and conditioner to preserve softness and shine. Submerge your wig in lukewarm water and gently swirl it—no harsh rubbing! Rinse with cool water and condition to keep it hydrated and smooth.

3. HYDRATE & CONDITION

Keep your extensions looking silky by using a leave-in conditioner or a light moisturizing oil. Focus on the mid-lengths and ends, where they need moisture the most. Deep condition at least once a month to restore moisture and keep your hair looking fresh.

To keep your wig silky and soft, use a lightweight leave-in conditioner or a wig-friendly spray. Be careful not to apply heavy products near the lace, as they can weigh your hair down and make it harder to style.

4. AIR DRY IS YOUR BFF

After washing, gently squeeze out excess water and pat dry with towel. Let your hair air dry naturally on a wig stand or drying rack to avoid heat damage.. If you’re in a rush, blow dry on low heat – always using a heat protectant!

5. STYLE IT RIGHHT

Using Heat styling tools (straighteners, curling irons) is totally fine, but protect hair by using a heat protectant spray before straightening or curling. Stick to low to medium heat settings to keep the hair from drying out and losing its natural luster.

6. SLEEP SMART

Going to bed? Tie your hair in a loose braid or ponytail to avoid tangles while you sleep. Swap out your cotton pillowcase for a silk or satin one to prevent frizz and breakage.

If you need to sleep in your wig, protect it by braiding or twisting the hair and covering it with a satin or silk bonnet. This reduces friction and prevents tangles while you rest. But if you can, take your wig off before bed to extend its life.

7. FUN IN THE SUN & WATER? PROTECT YOUR HAIR!

If you’re hitting the pool or beach, tie your hair up or wear a swim cap to keep chlorine and saltwater at bay. Always rinse your hair with clean water after swimming, and follow up with conditioner to keep it soft and hydrated.

8. STORAGE 101

Not rocking your extensions today? Store them in a cool, dry place. Lay them flat or hang them up to prevent tangling. You can also store them in a silk bag or box to keep them safe and tangle-free.

When you're not wearing your wig, place it on a wig stand or store it in its original packaging to maintain its shape and avoid tangling. If you're on the go, use a satin or silk bag for extra protection during travel.

9. TOUCH-UP TIME

Brush your extensions daily to keep them looking smooth and polished. If your extensions are sewn in, make sure to visit your stylist regularly for a touch-up to keep them looking fresh.

If your wig starts to lose its shape or vibrancy, visit a stylist for a trim or refresh. This helps keep the ends looking neat and ensures your wig stays in top condition. Treat lace fronts carefully, and always use safe adhesives to avoid damage.

FINAL TIP

Love your hair and it’ll love you back! With a little extra love and attention, your wig and hair extensions will stay soft, shiny, and ready to slay for years to come!
